Northpoint Fire & Security – Fire Alarm Installation at Northern Moor Care Home, Manchester (2025)

Project Overview

In 2025, Northpoint Fire & Security successfully completed the full design, installation and commissioning of the fire alarm system for the new Northern Moor Care Home in Manchester. The project was delivered on behalf of LNC Property Developments, with Northpoint appointed via the M&E contractor JH Electrical.

This development forms part of Northpoint’s continued expansion into the specialist care sector, delivering compliant, resilient and dependable life-safety and digital monitoring solutions for high-dependency environments.

Scope of Works

  • Northpoint were responsible for the complete fire alarm package, including:

  • Full system design in accordance with BS 5839-1, tailored to the operational needs of a modern care environment.

  • Installation of detection devices, interfaces (where required), manual call points, wiring infrastructure and fire alarm control equipment.

  • Commissioning and verification of all devices, programming of cause & effect, and integration with building management and care systems as applicable.

  • User training, documentation and operational handover to ensure seamless adoption by the end-user team.

  • This project required careful consideration of resident safety, staff workflows, and the operational demands of a 24/7 care home environment.

Delivery Approach

The project was delivered over a 4–5 month programme, requiring strong coordination with the construction team and M&E partners.

Northpoint’s delivery approach included:

  • Close collaboration with JH Electrical, ensuring sequencing of works aligned with fit-out stages.

  • Deployment of specialist installation engineers experienced in working within care and assisted living facilities.

  • Regular onsite design reviews to make real-time adjustments and ensure optimal device locations and regulatory compliance.

  • Clear communication with the client and project stakeholders to maintain programme certainty and quality standards.
